Privacy Policy
Minimal by design. What we hold, and why.

Informational Pattern Design (“IPD”, “we”) reads patterns in the personal informational field — observation, not intervention. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use The Cipher, why, and the rights you have over it. We collect as little as the service needs.
Who we are
Informational Pattern Design is the data controller for the personal data processed through this site and The Cipher. We operate from Romania (EU).

What we collect
We collect only what the service requires:
- Account data — your name, email address, and date of birth (used solely for the age gate; the service is for adults 18+).
- Your readings — the CIPHERSHOT and any reading generated for you, kept private in your CIPHERSPACE.
- Technical data — a session cookie to keep you signed in, and basic security/operational logs.
We do not ask for, and do not want, sensitive health or medical information. A reading is a pattern, not a diagnosis.
Why we use it
- To create your account and give you access to your CIPHERSPACE.
- To generate and store your reading.
- To confirm you are 18 or older.
- To keep the service secure and working.
Legal basis (GDPR)
We process your data on the basis of: the contract between you and us (to provide the service you asked for); your consent (where you give it); and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and functional.
What we never do
We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising trackers. We do not build profiles of you for third parties. Your reading stays in your CIPHERSPACE — only the abstract pattern, stripped of the person, reaches the public Codex.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of processors strictly to run the service (for example, hosting and database infrastructure). They act on our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes. We do not share your data with advertisers.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and readings for as long as you have an account. If you close your account or ask us to erase your data, we delete it, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can:
- access the data we hold about you;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- ask us to erase it;
- ask us to restrict or object to processing;
- receive your data in a portable form;
- withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these, write to hello@informationalpatterndesign.com. You also have the right to complain to the Romanian Data Protection Authority (ANSPDCP).
Security & changes
We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures. If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, where the change is significant, tell you.
