Terms of Use

The Cipher reads the dominant patterns moving in your informational field and returns them, read clean. The CIPHERSHOT is a single free reading; the CIPHER is a fuller reading. Your readings live in your private CIPHERSPACE. Membership (CIPHERSPACE) is a recurring subscription that keeps your field live over time.

The reading reflects what you bring to it. Giving false or made-up information doesn’t fool anything — it only wastes your own reading.

A reading is observation, not intervention. It is not medical, psychological, diagnostic, or therapeutic advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. We do not treat, cure, or diagnose anything.

A pattern is not a verdict. Nothing here should be used to make health, legal, financial, or other consequential decisions. If you are in distress or need help, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency service.

The service is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use The Cipher.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us and for keeping your login credentials secure. Do not share your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

Use the service for yourself and lawfully. Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, scrape, or misuse it, and do not use it to harm others.

Paid readings and membership are priced as shown at the point of purchase. Where a reading is offered as a pre-order or waitlist, that is made clear before you commit. Applicable taxes may apply.

Membership is a recurring subscription, offered monthly or annually at the price shown when you buy. Unless you cancel, it renews automatically at the end of each period using your saved payment method, at the then-current price for your plan; we will tell you in advance of any price change. You can cancel at any time from your account — cancellation stops the next renewal, and your membership stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for.

CIPHERSHOT readings, CIPHER readings, membership, and other digital content and services are provided with immediate access on purchase. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you normally have 14 days to withdraw. Because you receive immediate access, at checkout you expressly ask us to begin (or to grant access) at once and acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once access has begun.

Accordingly, purchases — including membership — are non-refundable. You may cancel a membership at any time (see Subscriptions): cancellation stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancelling does not refund the current period.

Why there are no refunds. A reading is informational, and it is delivered to you at once. Once you have seen it, it cannot be returned or un-seen — there is nothing to hand back. That is the honest reason purchases are not refundable, not a technicality. In exchange, we are clear about what each thing is — and is not — before you buy, and you can cancel a membership at any time to stop future charges.

Except where required by law, purchases are non-refundable. For any problem, email thecipher@informationalpatterndesign.com and we will deal with it fairly.

THE CIPHER™ is a trademark used by IPD under licence. The Codex, the patterns, the writing, the software, and the wider brand are owned by IPD or licensed to it, and protected by law. Your personal reading is yours; the abstract, faceless pattern that reaches the public Codex remains part of the Codex.

The list of places used to select your place of birth comes from the GeoNames geographical database, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0). GeoNames does not endorse us, and provides the data without warranty.

The service is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on a reading. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached.

These terms are governed by the laws of Romania. If we change them, we will update the date above; continued use means you accept the change.
